In topic "Fuchs Wheels"

Hello, I would like an answeror thoughts to this question if anybody can help?
I have bought a White 911 sse which is in lovely condition, I have spent a bit of money getting things how I would like them.
I got the half leather seats refurbished as I wanted to keep it as orginal as possible. The only other changes are tear drop mirrors and a Nardi steering wheel, the originals are in a safe place.
However, after carefully reading all the history of the car I came across the recipt when the car was purchased and noticed the owner paid £500 extra to have white fuch wheels, the wheels at the moment are in suberb condition and have obviously been refurbished, but now they are black.
Should I get these wheels re painted?
In topic "Trying on Some RUF Speedlines"
HI PETE, I HAVE BEEN OFFERED A DEAL WITH A GUY FOR A SET OF RUF SPEEDLINES NO TYRES FOR MY SUPERSPORT WHEELS WITH TYRE AND £500, IM TEMPTED BUT WOULD HAVE LIKED TO KEEP MY FUCHS AS WELL WHAT DO ALL YOU GUYS THINK, GOOD OR BAD, I DO LOVE THE RUF?? (hm)
Cheers all, I might see if i can get them without losing the fuchs, as mine are mint and I was torn between them but looking at it now proberly will regrete selling the fuchs

Hi all, I was going to renew my front discs and at the same time change the brake hoses to braided, can anyone tell me if the 3.2 supersport is the same as a carerra or the 930 turbo as some parts are turbo and some are carerra,
such as the roll bars are turbo,            (confused)  (confused)

cheers

I thought I would send some pics of my 911 SSE.

Thanks your looks great too.
The mirrors were on when I pick up the car,

cheers Dill :happy013:
Hi Dave, yeh white is nice lol, as we got one
are your wheels white as these were originally white according to the recipt when it rolled out of the factory, so Im going to get them repainted, looks like they have been refurbed as they are mint but a colour change was made for some reason.

cheers Dil

Hi Pete, the only changes are mirrors and I got a nice Nardi steering wheel, I have had the seats refurbed even though they were quite good, They are half leather with blue pinstrip but I decided to keep it original, I put a K&N AIR FILTER IN HER, iVE RENEWED THE AIR VALVES (OLD ONES WERE RUSTY)
The service history shows the car had a complete engine rebuild 3000miles ago by specialist cars Maldon,(Strasse being one of the others)
:happy013:  in fact most of the servicing has been carried out by them.
They had sold the car twice in its history.

I had a new windscreen fitted as there were marks on the old one.
I have just purchased a by pass pipe on the exhaust after reading one of your messages as mine still has the cat.
As a new owner 6mths old, any pointers what to upgrade in the future.

Cheers Dil

Hey I love that shed!, it been through hell,
going to get rid of it when I finish the drive.
You have a point though I could have taken photos in a better place. Must sort that out once the 14" of snow has gone

Hi Pete, everybodyres some new pics of my 911, with the new rear rflector, white wheels and now I fitted a nice shiney  s/s  exhaust system from design 911

cheers Dil

Thanks Im quite proud to drive her

After recieveing some feedback about the colour of the wheels I got them changed to white which is the colour they were from the factory, and I think its made a differance.

I changed the rear mountings to wevo after I found one had snapped

The cat was removed and an exhaust from design 911 was fitted.

I changed the porsche rear reflector as it was on my mine all the time, in certain light I could see patches like water marks, and If any one has a damaged reflector and cant get a new one as they are discontinued I got one which could suffice for now.

Oh and I sold my old MG which the money supplied the plate.

Hi nice car, I got mine off ebay 4yrs ago for a steal, I paid £9k for her spent alittlle money on a b post repair otherwise the car was tidy, I have spent more on her since but thats purly upgrades such as s/s exhaust,
goes to show there are some bargins and good finds, hope you enjoy the car

I love mine :agree2:
Hi Craig , my speedo problem was the contection by the gear linkage, i think were the linkage goes back and forth it has got caught up and loosened the conection,

Hows the short shift any good , i was thinking of getting one but as i have never seen one in action was a bit unsure.

Hey with all your talents (blue peter) you didnt make that earlier lol
(rofl)
Ok great, I will start looking to see who sells them,
thank again

In topic "Dil's SSE with RUF wheels"

Hi all, happy new year to everyone!
Thought i'd send some photo's of my 911, iv recently done a deal with a guy in london for some RUF wheels. I couldnt resist it!
:) HI THE RIM

Sizes are,

Rears 17" x 10" ET5

Fronts  17" x 8" E30.4

I PUT 235 45 17 ON THE FRONT AND 265 40 17 ON THE REAR AFTER A BIT OF INVESTAGATION ON THE  WEB

I COULD HAVE GOT AWAY WITH 275 ON REAR BUT WAS UNSURE,  (hm)
BUT I DO LIKE THE WAY THE 265 ARE STRETCHED ON THE RIM ,
AND IT KEEPS THE TREAD UNDER THE ARCH

(crazy)
:) I SAW YOUR CAR WITH THE RUF SPEEDLINE WHEELS , THAT MADE UP MY MIND TO BE HONEST,
THE FUCH ARE GREAT WHEELS BUT THE SPEEDLINE ARE SOMETHING ELSE,
WHERE DID YOU GET THE BUMPERS ARE THEY HARD TO GET HOLD OF, THE WHEELS ARE VERY DIFFICULT,

I DONT KNOW IF YOU NOTICED BUT I ALSO FITTED RUF CLEAR INDICATOR LENSES.

MINE HAD SMALL CRACKS AROUND THE SCREW HOLES SO WHEN I PRICED NEW I FOUND I COULD GET THE CLEAR SLIGHTLY CHEAPER, i THINK THEY LOOK QUITE GOOD WITH A WHITE CAR
:) SORRY dylan but its not for sale, but thanks for your comments
Hi I think they are the same as the yellow bird, but your right I saw a set on ebay just after I got these,
But they were not as wide on the rear as the dish did not look that deep.
These are on the limit as i put narrower tyres on it as if i went wider
the tyres would be out side the arch

In topic "Le Mans classic"
Hi all, did anybody go to the Le Mans Classic,
I went foir the first time , the whole weekend was amazing.
Getting on trhe ferry at 7am on the friday was like the most amazing car show ever.
While I was walking up the decks there were ferrari, porsche astons db5s , tr6,5,4,
But there was a fantasic show of porsche the whole weekend.

Inside the porsche club had around 1000 cars, they all did a run around the track which was cool, Wouldnt mind trying to see if its pssible for me to take mine around, any one know how you go about it,

This weekend is every 2 years so definatly going next time.

Also whilst on my way there I purchased a porsche mag and low and behold if im not mistaken
WAS THAT YOU AND YOU CAR PETE great piece and your car looked real cool  well done :agree:
I got some great video of porsche on the track and photos, I will have to get a friend to show me how to put them on here

cheers :)

Hi Dirty Fuch, can you explain to me as you are obviously a very serious porsche guy and I am only just scratching the surface as a new owner . I had the impression that brace was for serious racing, does this have a benifit just for normal useage?
I would be pleased to Know as I intend to upgrade and woundered what to upgrade alltogether.

In topic "3.2 LOWERING OPTION"
Hi all, not been on here for a while, can anybody advise me,
Im thinking of lowering my car, firstly how much is advisable and how do I go about it.

HI WELL I  SEEN 911S WITH THE REAR END SITS LOW AND THE FRONT SEEMS TO BE HIGHER, UNTIL i READ SOME OF THE COMMENTS ON THE THREAD i THOUGHT THIS WAS GOOD, BUT NOW THIS SEEMS JUST FOR LOOKS NOT IMPROVEMENT? iS THAT CORRECT? (confused)

(hm)

wHERE ABOUTS IN WALES ARE YOU HUW, DO YOU GO TO ANY SORT OF SHOWS.

i WAS BIG INTO VW AND DID GO EVERYWHERE WHEN YOUNGER AND HAD A SPLIT, BUT I THINK AFTER TALKING TO MY FRIENDS THE SHOWS HAVE GONE A BIT MONEY MAD AND LOST THE PLOT.

In topic "oil light"
Help, CAN ANY BODY HELP ME WITH THESE TWO PROBLEMS
i GOT MY CAR OUT TODAY 1986 3.2 911, FIRST TIME FOR 6 MONTHS, FIRSTLY WHEN I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD I NOTICED THE SPEEDO WAS NOT WORKING, SO I CHECKED THE WIRES TO MAKE SURE NOTHING WAS DISCONECTED ALL SEEMED OK, WHILST I WAS DOING THIS MY OIL LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AND NOW ON TICKOVER IT STAYS ON ALONG WITH THE LIGHT NEXT TO THE HANDBRAKE LIGHT. WHEN REVED IT GOES OUT
ANY IDEAS WHAT THESE TWO PROBLEMS ARE, I M AFRAID TO TAKE THE CAR OUT AT THE MOMENT.

(confused)
Yes after some checking we think it could be an oil problem or a oil sensor as when the car is cold theres no problem but when hot it happens at idle, but the car runs and sounds fine. And there is plenty of oil pumping around.
so i have ordered the 2 sensors a oil pressure sensor and oil change,
I think the speedo is a coincidence, and the speed pulse senor is playing up so it looks a bit manky so i ordered one of those, hopefully i should nail it.
Hi all I sent an email to thank you all but sent it personally to pete only sorry, usless at this. (crazy)

Yes as I said to Pete changed everything as i thought, took it for a blast and the light came on once warm, but pressure reading good, took it home and got under neath to find a trickle of oil running down side of block, i traced it back to another switch which i did not know was there at the rear of the engine, I changed the one by the fan , the sensor by the breater at the back and the sensor on the cooler, but this was under the air sensor, very hard to see. changed it and its sorted.
Also the speedo was down to a bad contection by the gear linkage coupling, in the inspection hole behind the seat.

so sorted know, but thanks :agree:  all
Hi Spenner, when i checked my wires for the speedo, theres not alot there really, just 2 wires goes from front to back, but just check out the conection in the inspection hole, as they are at the side of the gear linkage, i think mine might have been dislodged due to the linkage going back and forth, I bought a speedo sensor £119 and dont need it so i will keep as a spare, it might just be a loose contection,

hope you sort it cheers
:)
[color=#0000FF]hey nice video,. wish i saw that a few weeks age, any cars sorted now thanks, as you said Pete, with the injection system i found it easier just to remove the air box and air flow meter which is a few bolts and extra few minutes work but the you have plenty of space

:agree:

In topic "rear anti roll bar mount"
Hello, just been getting my wheels repainted, when as I removed the drivers side rear wheel I noticed to my horror the anti roll bar mount which is welded to the chassis has come away from the body, on closer inspection it has not rusted but torn away, I have been searching the net and discovered a garage in Devon advertising fixing this problem.
Is this common and can you get a replacement part, maybe upgrade this part.

any comments  disdain025.gif  great recieved

Cheers Dil
Great thanks Pete, I notice on the web they are based in the USA, are there any suppliers of this product in the uk

In topic "rear reflector between lights"
Hello, my reflector between the rear lights is a bit blotchy, I have removed the reflector and the paint to the back has flaked off in places which cretes a patchy affect from the front, other than buying a new one can anything be done to repaint it?

cheers Dil (confused)
Well I have tried painting a bit and it looked naff, but I ve got a second hand one now so I will do some experimenting and let you know what the best results are,
I ll sent some photos, I have also done a few things to her which I will take some pics off , new s/s exhaust system, uprated rear anti roll bar mounts which I took your advice, cheers Pete.
Hi Pete, I ended up getting a NOS reflector from the states, as I was having no luck, and I looked at a few second hand ones which were going for around £100 but they were far worse than mine.
Expensive but looks great get some pic shortly,  :agree2:

Hi all , is any body in a particular club such as porsche club or independant porsche club as i was thinking of joining one, and im not sure which one to join, as the impression i get from the porsche club is they seem a bit upper class when ive spoken to some at various shows but the indendant club ive not seen about but their web site seems more working class which is me. Down to earth have a chat and a beer.
Im going to the Le mans classic in July and was thinking if in a club I could meet up with people etc

any thoughts, I proberly have interperated things wrong not sure

(confused)
Cheers Huw,
yes I spoke to them at Tredegar House classic car show about joining and it was like extracting teeth, got the impression they didnt want you as they already had their little crowd, and to be honest I think your car and most on here , were seriously far better condition than the ones on show in their little gang.
Ive been joining in on the tipec forum and they seem good fun , and theyre going to the le mans classic, might give them a go see what happens,

Hi Pete read your comments, I mean no harm and your proberly right, most are tidy people , but prehaps just caught them on a bad day, lol
